Hoxhaj hosts in Prishtina the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg – more economic exchanges between the countries

Prishtina, March 28, 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj has met today with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.

Hoxhaj informed Minister Asselborn about the progress achieved in Kosovo and the institution efforts in implementing European reforms with the aim of facilitating Kosovo’s path towards EU integration.

Remembering him as a great friend of Kosovo’s independence, Minister Hoxhaj thanked Minister Asselborn for the continued support that the state of Luxembourg have given to Kosovo within the EU, NATO, UNO and other international organization.

At a joint press conference, Minister Hoxhaj and Asselborn have reaffirmed the willingness of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation especially in the field of economic cooperation.

“I informed Minister Asselborn with the progress achieved in recent months in Kosovo and we discussed about the possibilities of cooperation in the sections of economic development in Kosovo, and we also discussed about Kosovo’s European support and Luxembourg’s support in this regard. We also discussed about future memberships of Kosovo to international organizations, to which we need the support of Luxembourg and our aim not to be at all international organizations but to be part of those organizations that help internal economic development of Kosovo”, said Minister Hoxhaj.

On the other hand, Minister Asselborn emphasized that Luxembourg is willing to continue support for Kosovo, for which he said that it is in right direction.

“We recognized the independence of state of Kosovo, four days after the declaration of independence, and since then I see the things are changing in good direction. And we are here to help you and we are aware that this region is very sensitive and we are ready to come and help you to move towards the future and not toward the past”, said Minister Asselborn.

He added that his country will continue to support Kosovo in the process of visa liberalization, the implementation of the SAA and the continuation of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
