Lisbon, 10 December 2018 – The Republic of Kosovo has made another new diplomatic expansion in Europe by establishing the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo to an important state in Europe, which is a member of the NATO and the European Union, the Portuguese Republic.
On Thursday, in an official ceremony by the receiving state, the first Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ylber Kryeziu was officially accredited to the Portuguese state, who handed over credentials to the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
On this occasion, Ambassador Kryeziu conveyed to the President of this state de Sousa compliments of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, and the institutional commitment for further deepening and extending the relations between the two countries and peoples.
The Republic of Kosovo decided to open the Embassy to the Portuguese state for the first time during the last year, an action that was also welcomed and highly appreciated by the receiving state authorities.
Portugal recognized the Republic of Kosovo a few months after its declaration of independence and constantly provided support for consolidation of the new state and its integration to international organizations.
