Kosovo's interfaith initiative echoes around the globe

Prishtina, June 2015 - Kosovo’s 4th International Interfaith Conference in Prishtina set new highs for global reach via social media, youth participation, gender equality and diversity.   Entitled ‘Interfaith Dialogue In Time of Social Media: Enabling Agents of Change Countering Violent Extremism and Hate Speech’ the three day event focused on debating topics through a multi-disciplinary approach and developing tools to improve social activism against religious extremism. Delegates included global faith leaders, ministers and senior government officials, entrepreneurs, international representatives, and members of civil society. Opening remarks from the President of Kosovo H. E. Atifete Jahjaga, were followed by an inspiring, well-received keynote speech by Rabbi Michael Melchior, Chief Rabbi of Norway. Kosovo to host a global interfaith event

Prishtina, 27 May 2015 - On May 28-30, Kosovo will hold its 4th International interfaith Conference highlighting the role, experience and contribution of Kosovo and the Balkan region to the global debate on promoting interfaith dialogue and countering violent extremism. This year's high-level event includes remarks and keynote speeches by global faith leaders, ministers and senior government officials, entrepreneurs, international representatives, and members of civil society with the aim of moving the action from public debates to developing tools at the disposal of new generations of social activists. Among more than 200 participants in the conference there will be young delegates who will fly in from as far away as Afghanistan, South America and Nigeria to share ideas on how to combat online extremism and hate speech. Thursday 29 May 2014, Prishtina The Week of Tolerance and Reconciliation concluded with a public lecture by H.R.H. Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the concept of Love based on the Holy Quran. During the lecture, Prince Ghazi cited verses from the Holy Quran that epitomize God as the embodiment of love, as well as provided references to the love of family, friends, and neighbors. H.R.H. Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad’s lecture relied on his book “Love in the Holy Quran.” Copies of the book were distributed after the lecture to the 350 lecture participants. Kosovo’s Interfaith Conference concludes with commitments to co-existence and co-operation

Prishtina, 27 May 2014 - Kosovo’s international Interfaith Conference, which took place in Prizren from 23-25 May concluded with a desire to continue the dialogue by building on the positive expressions of co-existence, as part of a process towards greater peace and understanding.   With 150 participants from around the world taking part in discussions on the conference theme of Religion and Politics: Enhancing Interfaith Dialogue as a means of Democratic Development, this annual event has become a truly unique contribution to dialogue both in the region, and internationally.  Over the two-day conference discussed a range of issues, under Chatham House rules, allowing for free and frank dialogue.
