Prishtina, 1 August 2020 – On the occasion of the National Day of the Swiss Confederation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Meliza Haradinaj - Stublla, on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo and its people, expressed the most heartfelt congratulations to the Swiss people.
“Our strong ties are rooted in the most difficult times of the 1990s, when Kosovo youth emigrated to Switzerland to escape Milosevic's genocidal regime of Serbia. There they found refuge, work, education, and prosperity, but did not forget to help Kosovo in liberation, reconstruction, and state-building. It is this connection and comprehensive contribution that makes Switzerland one of Kosovo's greatest allies”, said the chief diplomat of Kosovo.
On this occasion, the Minister reminded that Switzerland had been the first country, which in the Security Council had officially mentioned and defended the position that for Kosovo there was no other solution but independence.
“Our Diaspora there today contributes to every aspect of the Swiss Confederation's public, economic, and developmental life. “Kosovo is proud of the achievements of our diaspora there, who continue to further deepen our special relations”, said Minister Haradinaj - Stublla.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to deepen and strengthen relations and cooperation with Switzerland in all bilateral aspects.
