Minister Haradinaj Stublla discussed with the Irish Foreign Minister; urged Ireland to support mutual recognition with the existing borders as the final epilogue between Kosovo and Serbia

Prishtina, 16 September 2020 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Meliza Haradinaj Stublla, today held a very substantial telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence of the Republic of Ireland, Simon Coveney.

Chief diplomat Haradinaj Stublla, after expressing her gratitude to Ireland as part of the first group of countries that recognized Kosovo in the first days of the declaration of independence, informed Minister Coveney regarding the Washington Agreement, and requested from Ireland to support mutual recognition with the existing borders as the final epilogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

“Minister Coveney confirmed Ireland's strong support for European Union enlargement towards Western Balkans, stressing that EU membership would have a strong transformational effect and a major stabilizing impact in the region”.

“We agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation with the aim of strengthening our political and economic ties as well as orient the youth of Kosovo towards the EU - in their natural, geographical and political home", stated Minister Haradinaj Stublla.
