The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Donika Gërvalla received today in a meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, also the current chair of the OSCE, Ms. Ann Linde.
This meeting took place in the framework of Sweden's engagement as chair of the OSCE. The counterparts had the opportunity to exchange views on bilateral issues between Kosovo and Sweden.
The parties discussed Sweden's priorities in the framework of the OSCE chairmanship, emphasizing the comprehensive concept and multidimensional approach that intertwines issues related to political, economic, human rights and democracy.
Speaking about the women's agenda, Chief Diplomat Linde assessed that Kosovo is a good example of women representation in leadership positions, mentioning the position of president, ministers and MPs.
Minister Gërvalla stressed the need to initiate special projects to alleviate unemployment, especially among women. In this regard, she informed her counterpart about the efforts of the Government of Kosovo to create a suitable climate for attracting investments that would enable the creation of new jobs.
The meeting also stressed the need to seriously address issues related to the rule of law, freedom of the media and the need for electoral reform.
On the other hand, regarding the bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Sweden, the chief diplomats talked about the excellent relations between the two countries. Minister Gërvalla stressed that Kosovo is very grateful for the friendship and great support of the Swedish state in all areas.
They also spoke about the possibilities of deepening this cooperation as well as regional cooperation.
