Prishtina, 25 November 2021 - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo and the Western Balkans Fund have held today the "Information Session for the fourth call for regional projects of the Western Balkans Fund".

On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Ms Liza Gashi, speaking about the importance of the Western Balkans Fund, stressed that the implementation of the Fund's mission is the development of regional cooperation.

"Kosovo has welcomed the Fund and has shown its readiness to increase regional cooperation. This is best demonstrated by the large number of applications from Kosovo civil society organizations that participated in previous calls. It has been proven that the civil society in Kosovo is very prepared, has good experts in the preparation of project proposals and has excellent cooperation with organizations from all over the region", Deputy Minister Gashi said.

Recalling the fact that Kosovo is a joint contributor with other WBF member states, Deputy Minister Gashi invited civil society representatives to apply with their projects in order to contribute to regional cooperation and close links between people throughout the region.

"I am certain that the supported activities, but also your ideas and connections presented in your projects, will help pursue the goals of regional cooperation and we have full confidence that your work and interest will bring positive changes in the region", Deputy Minister Gashi said.

The Director of this Fund, Mr Gjergj Murra, also spoke about the benefits that Western Balkans Fund can bring to civil society. While mentioning the past applications, Murra has shown that a considerable number of them are from the Republic of Kosovo and that, according to him, this is an indication that civil society in Kosovo is ready for external cooperation.

"So this fund aims to expand cooperation partners, so you may be looking for such partners and others may be looking for you as partners in this application process. The purpose of the fund is the creation of a link of civil society in our region", Murra said.

On the other hand, through virtual connection, the importance of WBF was also discussed by Mr Dario Di Benedetto, Team Leader of the Department of Social Development - Cooperation at the European Union Office in Kosovo. He assessed that such projects help the cooperation of civil society from all over the region, including various fields.
