Peja, 16 May 2022 - Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora in cooperation with the Friedrich Foundation Ebert, today officially opened in Peja the 8th edition of the Spring School for Young Diplomats with the theme "Security Architecture in Europe and its challenges".
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Donika Gervalla- Schwarz, has welcomed the diplomats in Kosovo through a video recording,
She said that “when it was designed as an activity to discuss security and peace topics, there were rumors that these topics would eventually become redundant. " "But given the situation with Russia's invasion against Ukraine, as well as the war there, the discussion on security issues is still very important." She congratulated the organizers and said that this activity puts Kosovo on the map of countries that discuss security issues and offer solutions to these issues.
The General Secretary of the MFA, Mr. Behar Isma, welcomed them in Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of solving security challenges.
"In the span of several difficult weeks and challenges in the security sector, with the main focus on Russian aggression on Ukraine, we have a good chance to contribute to the solution of international security challenges through discussions, analysis and views from different perspectives, and we are really grateful that you accepted our invitation and today you are present in our organization", said Isma.
Director of the Friedrich Stiftung Foundation Ebert z. Rene Schlee said that "they are very happy that they can help the government of Kosovo through cooperation with DA and the organization of this school, which we have been organizing together for 10 years now".
While the General Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador, Beqir Ismaili told the participants that "it is very important that security issues are addressed at the right level and that by finding the causes of war, we know the reasons for peace and then from the experiences of past, we learn the lessons of the future in order to increase inter-regional cooperation ”.
The Spring School for Young Diplomats is already a traditional organization of the Diplomatic Academy of MFAD, and gathers during a week in Kosovo diplomats from many countries around the world in order to establish ties and cooperation between the states and especially in the further advancement of Kosovo's already excellent relations with these states.
