Z. Kreshnik Ahmeti

Zëvendësministër i Punëve të Jashtme dhe Diasporës

Kreshnik Ahmeti was born on February 15, 1990, in Pristina. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics, University of Pristina, and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA, where he also served as a teaching and research assistant.

He began his political engagement in 2010 with Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! (LVV), initially serving as Coordinator of the Movement’s activities across Kosovo. In the 2013 local elections — the first in which LVV participated — he was elected Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Pristina and was part of the electoral team that led LVV to its first historic electoral victory in the capital.

During his mandate in the Municipal Assembly of Pristina, Ahmeti chaired the Committee for Public Services and led several regulatory drafting processes as part of the broad reform agenda implemented by the new municipal government. He also represented the Municipal Assembly in the public enterprise “Trafiku Urban,” contributing to efforts aimed at improving urban mobility and addressing traffic congestion in the capital.

In 2018, he was appointed Coordinator of the General Secretariat of LVV, where he contributed to strengthening internal management structures and institutional efficiency. In 2019, upon the proposal of LVV Chairman Albin Kurti, the General Council elected him Secretary for Foreign Relations and member of the Presidency of LVV. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing and maintaining relations with domestic and international partners. Among other achievements, he led the successful process of LVV’s membership in the Progressive Alliance, a global network of progressive political parties and organizations.

In 2020, in the Government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Ahmeti was appointed Chief of Cabinet to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca. During this period, he played a key role in managing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and in advancing reform processes within the Ministry.

Ahmeti currently serves his second term as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. During his first term (2021–2026), his portfolio included international organizations, defence and security, and bilateral relations with countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. His work focused in particular on Kosovo’s membership in more than 15 international organizations, leading and coordinating the membership process in the Council of Europe, expanding Kosovo’s network of defence attachés, advancing visa liberalization and free movement agreements, and strengthening bilateral partnerships.

His current term began on February 12, 2026, following his appointment by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

Previously, in addition to his political career, Ahmeti has hosted political and cultural programs on Radio Urban FM and has been active in Kosovo’s music scene as a member of several rock bands.

He is married to Teuta Hasani Ahmeti, an interior designer, and they have two children, a son, Tomor and a daughter, Zanë.
