Kreshnik Ahmeti was born on February 15, 1990 in Pristina. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pristina, at the Faculty of Economics, whereas his postgraduate studies at the North Dakota State University (NDSU), in the USA, where he received a Master’s degree in Business Administration. During his studies at NDSU, he was also engaged as a teaching and research assistant.
He started his political engagement in 2010 in Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! (LVV), where he initially served as coordinator of the Movement’s activities throughout Kosovo. In the first local elections in which LVV participated, in 2013, he successfully ran for the position of municipal councilor in the Municipality of Pristina and was part of the electoral staff of the successful electoral campaign in the Municipality of Pristina, where LVV scored its first electoral victory in its history.
During his mandate as a councilor of the Municipal Assembly of Pristina, Ahmeti led the Committee for Public Services and led several drafting processes of new Regulations, within the framework of the radical reforms that the new LVV government was implementing in the capital city. Also, he was a representative of the Municipal Assembly of Pristina in the Municipal Public Enterprise “Trafiku Urban”, from where he contributed to the reconceptualization of movement within the Municipality of Pristina, in the context of solving the problem of frequent traffic jams.
In 2018, he was appointed as the Coordinator of the General Secretariat of the LVV, in which case he was engaged in establishing the best management practices of this executive institution and the smooth running of work processes. In 2019, at the proposal of the Chairman of the LVV, Albin Kurti, the General Council elected Ahmeti Secretary for Foreign Relations and member of the Presidency of LVV, from where he was responsible for creating and fostering relations with local and international external actors. During this two-year term, among other processes, he led the successful campaign for LVV’s membership in the Progressive Alliance organization, which gathers progressive political parties and organizations from all over the world.
In the Government of 2020, led by Prime Minister Kurti, Ahmeti was appointed Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca. Throughout this mandate, his commitment was particularly emphasized in the management of the situation created by the restrictions imposed against the COVID-19 pandemic and the reforms within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
In April 2021, he was appointed by Prime Minister Kurti as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and his portfolio covers international organizations and bilateral relations with the countries of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.
In addition to political activity, in the past Ahmeti has also been engaged as a host of various political and cultural shows on Radio Urban FM and has been active in the music scene of Kosovo with several rock bands.
He is married to Teuta Hasani Ahmeti, an interior designer by profession, and has a son, Tomor.
